5 months old!

Yesterday my sweet angels turned 5 months old!! Can you believe it because I can't?! Every month just keeps getting better and better. Both boys are so much fun and have such cute personalities. They are both very happy babies (even though that doesn't come through in pictures). Garrett and I are just loving life right now!

Both boys are getting very chatty and loud. I love it! They also have found each other! They lay on the floor next to each other and grab on to the other's face or shirt or hand. They will then try to put that face or shirt or hand in their own mouth. It is so much fun to watch.

The boys are still eating 8 ounces every 4 hours with 2 scoops of cereal in each bottle. Then, in the evening, they will eat a fruit or veggie. They are champs now at eating. Their favorite food so far is squash, but last night they were really diggin' peaches. The little guys are taking a morning and early afternoon nap, both are 1 1/2-2 hours each. Then they go down again between 4:30 & 5 and are up around 6ish. Bedtime is 7:30 and they are up at 7:30 the following morning. I am so grateful to have such great sleepers! I can't even remember the last time I woke up in the middle of the night because one was crying.

The boys will be attending their first wedding this weekend. It is actually on Halloween, so the kids are supposed to wear their costumes. The girl getting married is a family friend that I have known since I was 5 and getting married on Halloween couldn't suit her better. Please say a quick prayer that the boys are quiet during the 7:00pm wedding. YIKES!! They are usually taking their bottle around that time. Look for pictures next week.

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, during our BEAUTIFUL weather, we headed to the Christmas Tree Farm to go to the pumpkin patch. We had such a nice time with our friends Matt and Georgia and their 2 precious girls. Our main goal of the trip was cute pictures, of course. Blake and Jack weren't too interested in the huge inflatable toys, train ride or hayride. Thank goodness, it was 2 bucks a piece to go on those 'rides'. Next year we will have to do it, but we just saved ourselves some serious moola this year. :)

There were tons of people there, so we kind of set up our own picture op. We moved some pumpkins out of the main areas and propped the boys up. We got some good ones of them individually, but trying to get two 4 1/2 month olds to A)look at the camera and B) smile, was next to impossible.

A mother's intuition

I have been concerned about the ever growing flat spot on the back of Blake's head. I have also noticed that when laying on his tummy, he isn't able to hold his head up as well as he use to. And, the range of motion in his neck I felt was lacking. I know you are laughing right now and thinking to yourself that I am just an overreacting new mom.

I talked to my pediatrician about it and she sent us to a pediatric physical therapist. So off we went on Tuesday. After the PT looked at him for about 15 minutes she told me he had Torticollis. WHAT??!! Something is actually wrong?? I thought I was just being an overreacting new mom.

Blake has a very mild case of Torticollis. All it means is that he has weaker neck muscles on one side of his neck; therefore, he leans slightly to the right. There are 2 different exercises to do to help with strengthening his muscles. They are super easy and take all of a minute to complete. I have to do them every time I change his diaper. He is really good about it, just not crazy about being restrained. But, my sweet boy loves to be sung to, so with my beautiful voice (do you hear the sarcasm) I sing and he is perfectly happy. We will also be attending physical therapy every week for a while.

Now the scariest part. I also had reason to be concerned about his flat spot. Because of his Torticollis, he has a much flatter spot on his right side than his left. If his right side keeps pushing forward it could also push his face. Making his eyes or ears uneven or worse. So, the possible solution to this might be a helmet.

Enter Kim trying to not have a breakdown in front of the PT.

I know if it is the best for Blake then of course we will do it. I also know that the helmet is so light weight and doesn't effect the babies at all, just their mamas. This isn't a definite yet, he may not need one at all. We will just have to wait and see.

The more I think about it and convince myself that it will be okay with him wearing a helmet, the more I think how cute he will look. Just picture his big round head, chubby cheeks and huge blue eyes standing out at you with this little helmet around his head. He will be precious no matter what.

Moral of the story:
Husbands-don't make fun of any concerns the mother of your child has. They may be legitimate.
Moms-if you feel something isn't right, act on it!!
