4 weeks old!

I cannot believe that it has been 4 weeks since these precious boys came into our lives. Time really does fly. We went to the pediatrician on Thursday and got a GREAT report.

I asked my dad to go with us because our appointment was at 10 and the boys eat at 10:30. I got a little nervous to take them myself in case of hunger induced screams; I ended up being nervous about nothing. Both boys have grown to 20 inches now. That is up 2 inches for Blake and 1 inch for Jack since birth.

I was really shocked when I put them on the scale though. Let me remind you that just 16 days prior at our previous appt. Jack weighed 5 pounds 2.5 ounces and Blake weighed 5 pounds 2 ounces. Jack went first and he weighed in at 6 pounds 11 ounces. Then it was Blake's turn and he weighed 6 pounds 10.5 ounces. My dad, the accountant, promptly realized that each boy had gained 1.5 ounces a day for the last 16 days. Holy cow!!

They are only in the 5th and 6th percentiles for weight but they were happy that the boys were even on the charts. Seeing as how they are being compared to 4 week old full-term babies. She is expecting for this percentile to shoot straight up as the next few months come along.

The boys are officially out of preemie clothes and into newborn sizes. :( They are also now eating 4 ounces every 3 hours. I think some chubby babies will be here before we know it. :)

My boys...they are a growin'

We go to the pediatrician again on Thursday for the boys' 4 week check-up. Can you believe that they will be 4 weeks old? What is even more shocking to me is that my actual due date is on Thursday. I can't imagine these boys not being here for the last 4 weeks. I still can't get over how blessed we were to have such healthy little boys.

I am so anxious to see how much the boys weigh now. According to the scale at Garrett's parents' house; they both are over 6 pounds fully clothed and diapered. So, we will see.
I do know that my boys are already outgrowing their preemie clothes. :( I can't believe it. They are kind of in between sizes right now. Preemie is too short, but newborn is too wide. In a couple more weeks I'm sure I will be writing about how they are outgrowing newborn sizes. Boy oh boy, time flies.
We finally have gotten the rest of our newborn pictures and they are precious!! I am going to have a very hard time narrowing down my choices. I think I will just have to buy more frames.
Here is Jack after eating. Check out his new double chin.
Here is Blake after eating. Always looking so serious.
Typical: Blake sound asleep; Jack wide eyed and bushy tailed.

My sweet Jack.

My sweet Blake.

Our first play group!

Yesterday the boys and I attended our first play group. Now I know you are thinking that Blake and Jack are only 3 weeks old, how much playing can they do? Well, they didn't exactly play; they slept and I enjoyed the company of Sheila, Allison and Mallory. It was really nice to get out of the house and be with friends.

Thank you so much Sheila for opening your home to us, hopefully we can do it again soon!

Here is the crew. Blake, Jack, Paige, Beckett & Will.

The boys' first girlfriend...Paige. She is only 4 days younger than my boys.

Can't you see all the playing going on? :)

Sneak Peek! Love, Mimi

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. Time with these precious guys is just flying by!

When Blake and Jack were just 8 days old, we had a wonderful photographer come out to the house and take newborn pictures of the boys. We actually went outside to the garage where there was good lighting and lots of heat so the boys would stay asleep. We were dying in the near 100 degree heat, but it was perfect for the boys.

Let me explain the name of the post on the photographer's blog. It is titled "Love, Mimi". When the boys and I were still in the hospital, my mom's 3 best friends came to visit us. They arrived full of gifts and plants. I opened the gifts from them and then Mrs. Harn put a large gift bag on my lap. She told me that it wasn't from any of them. As I was opening it, I asked who it was from. She told me it was from my mom. I instantly burst into tears as did they. Inside the bag was a quilt my mom had made for her grand kids before she passed away. On a small square, she had written "Love, Mimi". Mom saw the quilt before she passed away and her friends have held onto it for the last almost 3 years. It was a complete surprise to me, I had no idea this quilt was in existence. So we wrapped the boys in the quilt for one of the pictures. Priceless!

Please go to www.kdloftisphotography.com/blog and check out the adorable pictures of my little angels. This is just a sneak peek, more to come later!

I will post some more recent pictures of the little guys soon, they have gotten so BIG! Both have lost their cords, and they are only waking up once at night! We are so lucky. We feed them at 10:30 or 11 at night and they wake up around 3:30. We feed them and then they don't wake up again until 7:30ish. So I am missing out on the sleep deprived nights of mothering newborns. Shucks!

I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

We are home!!!

We were all given a clean bill of health on Sunday and shipped home!! We were a nervous wreck the entire ride home because the boys are so small in their car seats, but we made it safe and sound.

Now we are just trying to get settled. The boys are eating every 3 to 3 1/2 hours and sleeping in between meals. They are just precious!

We went back to the pediatrician today to make sure they were gaining weight (which they are) and to monitor for jaundice (which they don't have). The doctor was very pleased with the boys and said they were right on track for newborns. This was music to our ears.

We are just so in love and can't get in enough kisses and snuggle time with these little guys. They are already looking different than just 5 days ago. Everyone has always told me to treasure every stage because it comes and goes so quickly, now I know what they are talking about.

I will continue to add more pictures when I'm not sleeping. :)

Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen?

Thank you Kedra for the precious sign! Look how tiny the boys are.

We're home!
