Just a little bling

Jack will shoot me one day for this.

Tuesday night we had a girls' night because our friend Carla was in town. Garrett had to make a day trip to Dallas for work, so I put my kids to bed at Georgia's. Both boys, especially Jack, were having a very difficult time going to sleep. This is very odd for them so I was having a hard time figuring out the problem. It finally dawned on me that I had only given them one pacifier each. Jack likes to have one in his mouth and one in his hand.

Aunt Georgia to the rescue.

She had extra pacifiers that her girls weren't using. She warned me that they had bling on them but I didn't care as long as they would make the boys go to sleep. By this time, Blake had settled down, so I went in and gave Jack about 5 more pacifiers. A few seconds later...silence!

When it was time to go home, Georgia and I went upstairs to get the boys. Georgia picked up Jack and this is what we saw.

Yes, that is a purple pacifier with a huge 'diamond' in the center of it. We were cracking up. He was so confused and tired and had no idea why we were laughing at him.

He wasn't a fan of the camera light in his eyes.

He wouldn't take the thing out of his mouth. So, we brought it home and now have it ready to return to Lexi. No worries, we are not keeping this and it isn't to be used by my boys again...unless of course we are in another pacifier predicament.

So long Billy Ray Cyrus!

It breaks my achy-breaky heart to inform you all that Blake got his first hair cut yesterday. This was a long time coming and we finally did it. I have been putting it off because I didn't want to make the cut and mess it all up and ruin his first hair cut. So, I made Kedra do it! :) I warned her that she would be to blame if she screwed it up. Luckily she did a fabulous job!!

Even though she did a great job I'm not very happy with her because she turned my sweet baby into a little boy! It is amazing how cutting off his mullet has totally changed the way he looks. She only trimmed the back and a little on the sides since the front doesn't need it yet.

Once Jack is in need of a hair cut I am going to take them to the lady that cut my hair from my first cut until about age 12. Miss Gogi is still cutting hair and will definitely do their first 'official' hair cut.

Here is a view of the mullet. It doesn't look too bad here, but trust me, when he wore a collared shirt it would lay below the collar. Yuck!!

Here is Kedra about to take the first snip.

Look at all that hair to get cut.

Snip snip

"Mom what is she doing to me?!"

Ok, brace yourself. Here is my new little boy!

So handsome!!! Thank you Kedra for a great job!!

Swimming in the backyard

No, no we didn't have a pool put in (I wish) but my cousin Diane gave the boys a pool for their birthday. We finally blew it up this weekend, filled it up with water and let the boys splish and splash.

I was a little worried about Jack since he isn't a fan of pools but he really liked it. He LOVES his bath but for some reason is very scared of pools. He also screams if he takes a bath in a different tub than ours at home. We can't figure out his fears but we hope they end soon.

We really haven't been up to much lately. Between the heat, rain and Garrett traveling we have been laying low. Garrett did surprise me with a belated anniversary gift since we celebrated our 6th anniversary at our 10 year high school reunion. I guess that was appropriate seeing as how we are high school sweethearts. Anyway, last Friday Garrett took the day off, we dropped the kiddos off at Aunt Mary and Uncle Seth's and off we went to Houston. We stayed in a beautiful hotel and went to see Wicked. We had such a blast and it was so nice to have time for just the two of us. Thank you Garrett, I love you! Thank you also to Mary and Seth for watching our little guys, we love you guys!

We do have some BIG news. Jack is a walker!! He is only taking about 5-8 steps at a time but he is doing it all on his own. He is so cute with his arms straight up in the air and a huge smile on his face. I keep trying to get pictures but of course every time I get out the camera he just crawls everywhere. AGH! As soon as I'm able to snap some walking pics I will post them ASAP!

Here are some cute pictures of the boys in their pool.

Blake LOVES water!

Jack LOVES to splash...

except when it gets his face all wet.

Jack also enjoys putting his mouth in the water. He does this all the time in the bathtub too.

Blake playing and Jack drinking.

I love that the boys are so big that they can play in the pool and I can supervise while catching some rays.

"What is this thing I have on?"

How big are Blake and Jack? SOOO big!! Jack puts his hands on his head instead of straight out, but it is still pretty darn cute!!

I had to throw this picture in. After getting out of the pool Buster was quite hyper and running in circles around the den. Jack was sitting there laughing hysterically. I think this is a pretty cool picture if I do say so myself.
